Example 1– Application of gravity and magnetic data in fold and thrust belts

Illustrating the benefits of an integrated approach to utilizing gravity and magnetic data, the images below show a gravity anomaly mapping a breached anticline with the gravity high centered over the axis of the anticline. The magnetic data images the edges of the anticline corresponding to a magnetic formation, truncated at the surface. Joint inversion of the gravity and magnetic data allows for better imaging of the anticline.
