Example 2 Lithological and structural mapping; Papua New Guinea
This example covers the Pnyang anticline within the fold and thrust belt region of Papua New Guinea. Below are two fine mode Radarsat-1 images, taken with different incidence angles and used to form a stereo pair. The imagery enabled to identify major lithological units based on their unique surficial expression. The interpretation of the stereo pair allowed accurate dip estimates as low as 5 degrees increment.
